Encontro (Encounter) is the collaboration of Arizona based musicians (Al Alabado, Art Grijalva) and renowned musicians from Brazil. Produced and directed by Brazilian pianist Guilherme Vergueiro, Encontro contains some classic bossa nova and samba tunes, as well as some lesser known gems. Joining the encounter is jazz great Don Menza, legendary drummer Robertinho Silva, bassist Octavio Bailly, and percussionist Meia-Noite. Listening to Brazilian music as teenagers in the Arizona desert, Encontro was a dream come true for Al and Art. We hope you enjoy listening to it as much as we enjoyed recording it.
